报告内容摘要:
Central to the bottom-up paradigm of nanoscience and nanotechnology, which could lead to entirely new and highly integrated functional nanosystems, is the development of effective assembly methods that enable hierarchical organization of nanoscale building blocks over large areas. Semiconductor nanowires (NWs) represent one of the most powerful and versatile classes of chemically-tunable nanoscale building blocks for studies of the fundamental physical properties of nanostructures and the assembly of a wide range of functional nanosystems. In this talk, a series of key advances in recent development of novel assembly approaches for organizing semiconductor NW building blocks and further integration of these ordered structures to construct functional NW systems will be presented. First, several rational assembly strategies to organize NWs into hierarchically ordered structures will be described, including blown bubble film (BBF) technique, contact printing method, and chemically driven assembly. Second, significant advances in building integrated nanoelectronic systems based on reproducible assembly of scalable NW crossbar arrays, such as high density memory arrays and logic structures will be discussed. Last, unique applications of assembled NW device arrays for studying functional nanoelectronic-biological interfaces will be discussed with an emphasis on highly integrated NW-neuron interface and multiplexed, flexible NW-heart tissue interface.
